IDLEWILD11:00 AM - NOON
With heart-breaking harmonies and smokin' instrumentals, East Kootenay based Idlewild's unique mountain sound makes the old feel new. After playing and singing for many years with different groups in valleys and towns in the Kootenays and beyond, fate (and a little bit of luck) brought together multi-instrumentalists Heather Gemmell (guitar, dobro, banjo), Keith Larsen (guitar, mandolin) and Lindsay Cuff (fiddle, banjo). With their original tunes, old-timey classics, murder ballads and bluegrass standards, Idlewild will leave you longing for more.
WILD HONEY12:00 - 1:00 PM
Based out of Cranbrook this roots music trio takes inspiration from our amazing East Kootenay surroundings and people. Shelby Knudsen, Jessica Niedermayer and Laura Cain blend beautiful harmonies with lyrics that reflect the landscape. Wild Honey is a perfect fit for the Fernie Fall Fair!
DOGGONE BROTHERS1:00 - 2:00 PM
This Kootenay duo is a recent side-project of Clayton Parsons (Clayton & Joelle,The Good ‘Ol Goats,) and Michael Hepher (Redgirl, As The Crow Flies). Both seasoned musicians in the area, Clay and Mike crossed paths at a mutual friends’ birthday party and ended up jamming the night away. That night of jamming turned into a regular thing that they’ve named The Doggone Brothers. The music is distinctly ‘grassy, with fishing, hunting and camping themes throughout their set of original and hillbilly cover tunes. Clay jumps back and forth between guitar and dobro while Mike picks the mandolin and guitar. They are sure to entertain as they keep it fun and loose while duelling back and forth with their respective axes.
